Seven Knives is a contemporary band from St. Petersburg, Russia. Their songs are about time and those things that get lost (being last, but not least) in it, when this time is organized by a 7-day week. Sacrosanct melodies are made of 7 notes, whatever key they are in, the truth is that you don't need them all. Both days and notes are inevitable. 7 knives are like the third seven in your longed-for slot machine jackpot, when you get your gold, and say "hellooooooooo" out loud to the unavoidable world . In the beginning, Seven Knives was a duo. In winter of 2015, Bøgi suggested Shato join the local band called Cruciate Sister, formed of guys from their circle of acquaintance. Something went wrong, but the undertaking has grown into the exchange of tunes and sketches from Ableton. The decision to use the Russian language in general was like "well, maybe it will work". After several months, when the number of sketches increased, the idea that the band urgently need to find a synth-man came up. That is how, through several contacts, Kirill Rem, experienced in knob-turning and rave-making, joined the band. While the beats of Shato became more and more insistent and Bøgi’s voice hasn't tried to find a way out of the dark mazes of the Russian language, Rem poured the melancholic northern lights, alternating with the trans-nostalgic sequences into the sound of Seven Knives. Nevertheless, the general mood of the songs of Seven Knives has stayed the same, like the mood at the border between the land of desperation and the kingdom of ethereal euphoria. Once upon a time in Germany, Nietzsche proclaimed that God has died, then, in France, first an Author died, and then a Subject, and also there was an attempt to prescribe the death to a Human. In Russia only rock’n’roll was honored similarly way (for a broad audience), while the rest remains arguable. "Seven knives" do not know whether someone saved something in a memory about a Russian rock bands from the 80’s, just like people do not know what rock’n’roll is in the 21st century, but they still remember how to record a bass guitar.
